If properly set up, Time Machine provides regular backups of your Mac’s storage volumes. You can also use Time Machine to recover lost files or folders from its backups. Follow these steps:
1. Go to the folder where you last saw the lost file.
2. Open Time Machine. Once you do it, you’ll see a nice picture of space with all of your folder versions arranged one by one.
3. You can browse these versions by clicking them, using the arrows below, or using the dates in the Dateline on the right of the screen.
4. Once you find the version you’d like to recover, click the Restore button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
